Gun control 2013: Irrational fears of Gun Owners and the Right/Left/Middle

What a beautiful gun I found a picture of on Wiki.

To those who were/ are scared of any new Federal Gun Control Laws.

**Edit December 19, 2012  You probably should be worried. Emotions due to an unfortunate event has generated an emotional outcry for reform. This was written prior to the CT Elementary School Shooting. At the time of writing this I felt that no one should worry. My views and out look has changed drastically. A new blog with my findings will emerge soon.****

*Edit Feb 9 2013 since no bill has actually been rammed down the House and Senate elevated fears are back to how I originally felt when I wrote this article**

Rest assured my fellow blog reader. There is some really bad propaganda going around, fear being the main driving force behind it all. Those fears are misguided.

First and foremost. I can not see any current reason why the Federal Government would want to limit or ban citizens from having guns. Banning guns, or De-arming America is well frankly has more cons than pros for the government.

  • Think about it this way. What country in the world would think that it would be a good idea to invade a country where there are in theory more guns floating around than citizens?
  • What country might think it is a great idea to come invade the USA if no one had guns?

Now, lets take a quick history lesson from not so long ago. The Cold War. Now the USA has some submarines that are called Boomers. More specifically the Ohio Class Submarine.

Now the whole purpose of this submarine other than to annihilate the enemy if need be, primary to act as a deterrent. I would only know this because many years ago I wrote this wonderful research paper in High School on Nuclear Powered Submarines, in fact data was so hard to come by I had to expand my paper to also include Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carriers, and Nuclear Ballistic Submarines as well. Because too much of the information I was seeking at the time was classified, and beyond my reach.  Before I completely derail from the topic. The importance here is that one of The United States Armed Forces and Government’s strategies is Deterrent, in keeping America safe against an all out invasion attack.

So from history you will also learn the sole reason why Japan never actually tried to invade the Continental USA (main land) “they knew that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.” Though surprisingly this fact is left out of well history books. Don’t believe me, do your research. I will help you out though Isoroku Yamamoto, is a good place to start.  Lets not get into the nitty gritty of “Did they really invade.” We could argue and debate and go round and round about it. The fact is they did not invade the lower 48 (that is what I mean by they did not invade). That we should all be able to agree on.

While, Citizens typically sit idle and let their rights be eroded by Politicians on Capital Hill.  Those same people collectively will not stand idly by and watch another country come and try to take our rights away by force.  As much as I am personally amused by this thought, which frankly could be proven as fact, I hope the day never comes.  While I by no means am saying take up arms against our own government. So don’t think I am implying any such thing I am not.

So our own government knows it is in its best interest to keep its citizens armed for that reason alone.  Why remove the one thing other than our armed forces as a Deterrent from invasion? They would not dare.

Think about it, Yes our government makes some very unpopular decisions around the world. They know it.

Now for those who are all up in arms and scared about the Obama Administration. Your fears are irrational. This current administration has actually not tried to propose or pass any legislation that would hinder our 2nd amendment rights in any way. Actually the administration has broadened gun owners rights.  That is about the only thing that I can tip my hat to the current (Obama) administration.

The not so funny thing is the Mitt Romney signed gun control in Massachusetts with his assault weapons ban in 2004. Something that I failed to realize during this last political campaign.

So, the Irony of this all is that the Fear propaganda is/was sorely misplaced. Spread by those who want to make money. Mainly by those who want a Republican in office, or those wanting to bolster their gun and ammunition sales profits. Mainly out of fear. I have a better marketing campaign. It is the American way, buy a gun today! Or Buy a gun today its the American way! (by the way I want rights to that if it becomes a slogan)

I will say that I am encouraged to see that lawful gun ownership continues to rise in the country. There is nothing wrong with that. I just hope that people get training and practice their marksmanship as often as possible. What good is having a gun if you don’t know how to shoot it well?

  • Supreme Court and Courts across the land continue to vote in favor and support of the the 2nd Amendment. Which is great news for Gun owners. Those decisions can not be overturned. They set president. Meaning once ruled on those decisions can not be changed by any new laws. Any new laws in conflict will be under the scrutiny of previous decisions and then will be ruled unlawful and unconstitutional. That Legislation has to follow those rulings. Period.
  • Right now any Gun Control bills limiting citizens to own guns carry them or posses them will feel the unwanted wrath of the Supreme Court.

Secretly the Government is glad you have gun and know how to use it.  After all fellow citizen you are the ultimate deterrent.   Even people who choose not to own guns think that people should be able to have the right to own and carry guns if they so choose. Calm down! But Get talking to your friends, co workers, go to the range and have gun shooting parties! The more people owning and shooting guns the better!

Rest assured for the time being any Federal Gun Control Bill would be political suicide.  The Second Amendment in all its glory will reign for the time being. No need to make a tin foil hat. Here are some more facts.

  • Female gun ownership and concealed carry is at an all time high, this trend will probably continue
  • Democrat and Republican household gun ownership is on the increase
  • Over 70% of the population does not want stricter gun laws
  • Even the majority of people who feel that gun ownership is not for them. Do not want to infringe upon our gun rights or the 2nd amendment.
  • Concealed carry permit issuance is on the rise.
  • More states are becoming Shall Issue
  • A polite society is an armed society.

Put away your hat! Brad Kozak

Article notes:

I chose to write this  after stumbling upon this blog or posting.  Which is a great website www.thetruthaboutguns.com   Which for the most part is a rather informative website on most of the latest developments. So here is for Brad Kozak. I am not attacking the guy, just some stuff I would like him to think about, If he sees this post.

*Also, for those worried that the government is trying to keep records of those who own guns, and selecting them out. Guess what they most likely already have that information. Think about it. Who gives the nod when someone is buying a gun from a shop? Where do the gun sales records go when a shop owner decides to close his doors? Who keeps record of who has what permit and if it is valid? You may say the state okay great. Now wasn’t their a law passed that agencies must share and work together with information? Not to raise anyone’s fear level I am not. I just think their are more important things to worry about than does Big Brother know I have a gun permit and a gun. But I am sure I will get a heck of a back lash from some out there. But before it turns into a political he said she said. I never vote straight ticket.

Feel free to leave comments they are always greatly appreciated.
