When tradegy stricks: How to most effectively protect our children / Gun Control Not the Answer

This extremely unfortunate event that has happened in Connecticut. This does deeply pull at my heartstrings. I do not have children but I can only imagine the loss of the parents, siblings, fellow classmates, and the community. Loss of life is never an easy thing, even when it is of old age and graceful natural causes. I am deeply saddened in ways I am not sure how to express in words. I wish I could at this moment.  But I feel I need to point out a different idea that will ultimately be the for the best and more practical and realistic that will not tear our country further apart.

Out of respect I am not going to include any pictures of the school, the children, parents or demand response teams that are floating around the internet.

Instead of Gun Control I have a much better idea.

  • All Exterior School doors are To be locked to outside visitors during school hours
  • All exterior doors can be passable to those inside the building during those hours. Preventing access in and not out.
  • All Class room doors to hallways while class is in session must be locked, and or only accessible by key card by student during authorized time allowance for class. Thus allowing for a student to safely return to class if need to leave the class room for any given reason, or will be prompted to knock to gain entry to the classroom. Thus, if a key card is found it would only work on one classroom not all classrooms during designated time slots.
  • Classroom doors will still be passable for exit by students/ staff to leave room. The are not locked in.
  • Concrete security Pillars much be installed at all access points of the building to deter an individual from ramming a vehicle through doors to gain access.
  • If access to building by a visitor is required, They must pass through a metal detector and a locked door way similar to those at banks in high crime areas. This would prevent any malicious individual from gaining access to the building with any sort of weapon.

This is just a start. No this would not make our schools a “Prison”  Students and staff can go freely. Re-entry will be an extreme challenge for those who wish unprovoked and malicious intent to those innocent. Seriously, Someone in Capital Hill Should contact me. I have other ideas for provisions and procedures that would ensure our Great Countries Children’s Safety. That will not infringe upon the Rights of its Citizens.

The Gun Control Issue

I am extremely disappointed in a lot of people while browsing over my social media page today. Making this into an issue of Gun Control. I have seen people posting Pictures of this. I am slightly disappointed in both sides at the moment. You should be morning or at the very least taking a minute to personally reflect on your life. Cherish those who you love and care deeply about.

But, Since everyone else is going there.

and of course this:

The difference between these two photo’s is one is comparing only that of the United States. The last picture.

The first one on the other hand is showing some statistics comparing against other countries.

Now the first one is deeply troubling, because well you have to take into consideration the population of those countries. Then you have to take into the consideration of other violent crimes in those countries. Also you have to take into consideration the economic situation of those countries and then compare rationally not irrationally. Frankly the first one is very misleading.  The  fundamental keys to writing a successful research paper, is building an argument and supporting your argument. How you support your argument is really based on what research your doing on any said project you choose to leave out.

Since when is it a good Idea to want to pass a law based solely on emotions? I can’t think of any moment that a good outcome has come of that.

Here is an even more unfortunate thing about this tragic event that transpired earlier on 12/14/2012.  It is a Anti gun/ Pro Gun Control Lobbyists wet dream. Close to a major holiday Christmas, Children, and Mass Shooting.  Don’t let emotion seriously skew what you know is right. The fact is Gun ownership is a 2nd amendment right. Once you remove that, it is a slippery slope to censorship.

Here is a link to my posting about Gun Control for 2013 and those who are worried.

So lets crunch some numbers for fun.

  • A person has a 3 in 20,000 chance of being killed in a car accident in the United States.
  • A person has a 1 in 32,165 chance of being killed by a hand gun homicide in the United States.
  • A person has a 3 in 6,250 chance of being stabbed or robbed at knife point in the UK.
  • The US Population is in excess of 310 million people.
  • The UK population is in excess of 54 million people.

Now What is interesting here is that it didn’t mention in the first Photograph that serious knife crimes was 26,000 in the UK in 2009

But here is a world chart of Homicides (murder) 2012 that paints an accurate and realistic picture. (This is murder over all, regardless of the device used to facilitate it)

death

Honestly compared to other places in the the world the US is a pretty darn safe place.
Please Take a moment reflect on your life. Life is a precious gift. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. If you don’t know your neighbor, get to know your neighbor. If you are not close with your family get close. Make a new friend. Be kind, caring and compassionate to everyone. Don’t be in such a rush to not listen to someone, time can never be replaced.
Maybe the world would not need guns, if the world could be in peace and harmony and kind to one another. Fact is, the this is a Utopia that will never ever exist, not on this planet at least.  Hunting and marksmanship will forever be a way of human life. The Second Amendment has been threaded on enough.  Restrictions will never work.  Restrictions will never amount to a Utopia, no where close!
